AfterQuery, a YC-backed AI research lab, came to us with a need to elevate their brand & digital presence to one that appealed to their large enterprise-level customers (Anthropic, Open AI, Google) and had “aura”.

We saw this as an opportunity to establish prestige, clarity and humanity into the AI research space by creating a visual identity and website that drew from Darwinism and scientific revolutions that changed the world.

"I hired Shravani for website design and was blown away by her final delivery and approach. Despite my company operating in a highly technical domain, she took the time to deeply understand both my product and customers (was not expected, but made all the difference in… design decisions).

Her process was comprehensive [and]… was open to feedback and iterations at every stage. The work was so impressive that we immediately expanded her scope…

She delivered tasteful, thoughtful designs backed by genuine understanding of our business. I highly recommend her!"

I started with the Turing machine. At the time, it represented one of the most radical shifts in how humans related to information: a mechanical process for reading, interpreting, and acting on data. Punch cards were fed into machines, and tiny rectangular cutouts encoded meaning that a machine could understand. It was simple, precise, and quietly revolutionary.

That visual motif took Shravani far.

Those rectangles became the foundational element of AfterQuery's identity. Much like how IBM's punch card systems democratized access to data processing by putting the power of computation into the hands of researchers, institutions, and enterprises, AfterQuery is modernizing how model training data is sourced and distributed to the world's most advanced AI companies.

But what truly sets them apart is who's behind the data. AfterQuery works directly with the human researchers collecting it. They work with domain experts whose knowledge and rigor are embedded in every dataset. That's their edge.

To ground a brand living on the cutting edge of AI, we looked to the natural world. Scientific illustrations like the kind found in Darwin's field notes, botanical surveys, and early naturalist archives (sourced from the MET archive) became a central visual thread throughout AfterQuery's identity.

There's something about that tradition of careful, human observation of the world that felt deeply aligned with what AfterQuery does. In an industry obsessed with what's next, we wanted the brand to feel anchored and rooted in the long history of humans studying, classifying, and making sense of the world around them.
